“You Can Be A Poet”
I guarantee everyone is a poet
But I am willing to bet not many know it
Forming a poem is a simple task
Just string words on paper that seem to mask
Your hidden feelings on a certain subject
Or how you wish this world could be perfect
Not all poems have to be deep in meaning
And indeed even the simplest poems can be quite deceiving
This poem for example exists
Without any misdirection or twists
The focus of this poem is to provide
A helpful little guide
On how to write the absolute best
And bring out the skills everyone does possess
Poems work to magnificent avail
If one decides to retell a tale
Poems allow one to gather his inclinations
And place them on a paper in the form of notation
Poems do not necessarily have to rhyme
And indeed not many do line for line
But what a poem does need for support
Are beautiful images of some sort
As one continues writing down the page
More and more thoughts he continues to engage
Onto a paper which was once white
Now the ink has lit it bright
If one becomes fixed and can not move on
Let the poem rest until new ideas are spawn
The best poets do not always try
Their ideas come with the blink of an eye
When one has finished his writing
He should reread and correct it under the perfect lighting
For what allows poetry to be so great
And this is to be taken with much debate
Is the manner and setting a poem takes place
And the poem’s lasting impact as to how others can relate

this is what great poets do. Follow Sir William Wordsworth. But, you have woven a beautiful meaning of poetry to many amateur poets out there.
You vision was clear, to provide this as a guide, as it was indeed a wonderful guide. As many others said, you have a problem with the rhyming scheme, but in this poem, you have overcome that and strung the verses in a simple A A B B scheme. Normally you write very long poems. This either happens because one drifts away in their own world, or they have too much to say. But here, you have put everything you wanted to convey in a nut-shell. So, there it is, improvement in your technique of writing!
The Impact of the poem is best when the beginning and the ending are catchy and original which allows the reader to get very interested in the poem. And of course, the flow, for the reader shouldn't be able to take his eyes off the line he's reading. Your poem has a wonderful flow. But the beginning, i should say is a little bit cliche for this subject. So improvement in originality there, would be advised. Now, a poem is successful, when readers remember a few verses from it. So i can say this poem did what it had to do as some verses are never forgettable. And so is the conclusion making anyone pick up a pen immediately after reading this. The true aim of writing a poem, the ease in writing it, the way you should write it and that anyone can write it, is beautifully conveyed.
