You know that one friend Who you cordially invite Who eats all your food And ruins the night? That one friend you hate But you can't resist Because you're too nice And so it persists. You feel sorry Because they're alone And their sad excuse Gets them in your home. You know they're lying But not to look rude You keep them from crying Not to ruin good moods
You know that one friend Who slowly ruins your life? They drag you down with them Someone get a knife. Because you want to cut ties But just then they change Or so they pretend to Just so they stay. Then you're stuck with them But inside your head You imagine them on fire You picture them dead. Or if that seems too harsh At least go away But you're too nice to say so And so again they stay.
You know that one friend Who won't leave your side? But not for good reasons They call in the night. Just to say something Stupid as hell Or gossip about people You know nothing about. Then they compete To beat your high score To get better grades To show something more. And everywhere you turn They always show their face They just don't take no They don't give you space. And sooner or later You snap and explode They crossed the line And stepped over nodes.
Well I disposed of that friend A long time ago I told him directly I hope you freeze in the snow. I left him outside In his car to defrost I got tired of trying I showed him who's boss! I've given him chances More than I should But he always proved That did him no good. I called him names Every dirty word And then I soon realized This is absurd! Why should I waste My energy and time But at least he inspired The words to this rhyme.
This is more than true, there are always people like that in our lives including high school. This touches the heart and speaks the truth on so many levels, all you can really do is smile and nod.
This poem can be truly understood from all ages, even grown ups can understand this, which is very sad.
A very inspirational peice and very simple and plain. Thank you for writing such a true thing that happens to all, I don't compete or try to get into peoples faces because I know in my heart that it happens to me all the time and I know they would hate it right back.
I completely agree with this poem. I just...everyone has that one friend which you don't even know why you guys are friends. If you just met this friend today, I bet you wouldn't be friends. But yet you are friends. Maybe because they need a friend. I get what you're saying that one friend who's depressed all the time and won't help him/herself. You would try to help them but...ya know...Gotta help yourself first.
And those friends that bring you down. I get that. I have friends who distract me and bring me to their level. Sometimes I have to go "Hey. I got homework to do. I need some time to myself." Or what not.
But getting back on topic...
Nice choice of rhyme. It's clever and everything. the wording fits wonderfully. I like how you're describing such a typical thing. Everyone has that friend, but no one really admits it, or takes the time to write down a poem.
The ending made me happy. A nice conclusion, a break away from the chains [That friend] And yet, gave you an inspiriation.
All and all this is so honest and clever. I am faving this and I shall spread the word.
I was thinking, "Why is this in humorous?" 'til I got to the end. Very relatable, kinda sad, but I love how the rhythm and rhyming all fit together quite nicely. Well written
I have one like this, they put crap in my lunch box, told me they'd throw it away, and before i noticed it was still there, they went home and i had to throw the crap away
