"Surgery"
A girl only sixteen on the corner for sale
Would rather sell herself than end up in jail
Kicked out of the only place she could call home
Now she has nowhere to call her own
And as she slips into her chamber's bed
She is forced to believe the lies she is fed
About life and health and random things
She even questions what her life may bring
A punished life left out of her possession
Her problems exist as her primary obsessions
And when they tell her there is a cure for her disease
Of course she will believe them without disbelief
For what else has she left to lose?
A punished life without any decisions to choose
Now she lies there ready for the injection
She is perusing this out of fear of rejection
On second thought she would rather be given the gas
That will put her asleep for as long as it lasts
She closes her eyes and quickly drifts away
She can no longer control herself as her thoughts wander astray
The doctor nods as the first incision is made
I can not believe they are cutting up such a pretty face
Unfortunately this story I am not pretending
But I must leave this poem with a cliffhanger ending
For I can not tell what the future beholds
Please God do not ruin her heart of gold
