"Fairy Tales"
At the end of the final chapter
Most stories end happily after
Enchanted evenings; dreams coming true
Believing in magic; it could happen to you
Fairy tales fuel our dormant fires
Romantic films quench our inner desires
Demons become friends; fun times never end
Must be nice to live in a realm of pretend
That's not how things work in the real world
The hero doesn't always win his girl
People pass away; buildings crumble and fall
Cinderella's mice in reality would be mauled
Teacups don't sing; at least none that I know
Carpets can't glide through the wind's blow
Crabs do not dance; that is really absurd
Animals can't talk; at least not verbal words
Things don't always magically get better
And certainly nothing lasts forever
People grow up; they evolve and change
Nothing can ever remain the same
So what is it about these fairy tales
That leads people to derail
From a path of normal thinking
And ponder potions shrinking?
Why is it we get such delight
To watch a princess' uphill fight
Against the hardest of chances
So with her prince she dances?
Call them stories; or maybe myths
But these narrations give us gifts
Evil can be crushed; dragons can be slain
If you maintain faith there's much to be gained
Perhaps it's the innocence, harmony, and charm
The appeal of dissonance that can not truly harm
Fairy tales bring out the wildest of imagination
And leads those to create the greatest of creations
We need this hope in a world full of shame
We need stories to believe or else become the same
With its setup, complication, and resolution
Our inner child has to see a happy conclusion
It really does express how many of us may think now. Sometimes we look back on the fairy tails we grew up with, the stories we loved to hear over and over again, And we think;
"These stories are a bit absurd, they are actually impossible."
But you know, it is good to have our fairy tails kept in our minds and hearts, because no matter what, it's what helps give us motivation and determination to do bold things and carry.
Even if we hold the vaguest ideas in our head, we still learn to use these as keeping a positive outlook on things.
Overall, this poem was very expressive, and said a lot of things that really, we recognize, but fail to see it until it is shown to us as such.
