Every now and then across the water at night
A lady can be seen dressed in long silky white
She dances along the water as elusive as a bird
Her beauty so astounding I can not put into words
Her movements so graceful they shift the moon’s release
On the gravity of the earth; every crevice and crease
If the world were to fall apart around her piece by piece
Her dancing would never cease but only increase

And I wait for every day to end so I can say
I have seen this great maiden by the bay

The flowers enveloping her sing in harmony with the bees
The trees bend their barks and their branches tease

She told him "no" many instances before
At first he listened, but not this time
Her words were sounds that he ignored
Because finally, he crossed the line

At first it seemed like every date
He was sweet and kind, holding doors
But even still at any rate
She found herself screaming on the bedroom floor

Because he heard, but didn't listen
Only hearing what he wanted to hear
And by pure hormones he was driven
While her pleas fell on deaf's ears

At first it started out innocent
Holding hands, kissing, locking lips
But soon it was no longer ambivalent
Once his hands swayed around her hips

Most stories end happily after
Enchanted evenings; dreams coming true
Believing in magic; it could happen to you

Fairy tales fuel our dormant fires
Romantic films quench our inner desires
Demons become friends; fun times never end
Must be nice to live in a realm of pretend

That's not how things work in the real world
The hero doesn't always win his girl
People pass away; buildings crumble and fall
Cinderella's mice in reality would be mauled

Teacups don't sing; at least none that I know
Carpets can't glide through the wind's blow
Crabs do not dance; that is really absurd

There exists a dazzling forest with glistening
Water flowing down the hill with listening
Ears as if to appear sound and protected
But I know the truth of which none have detected

These waterfalls are a collection of tears
That fall from the eyes over the years
And never dry out but always throughout
Sprinkle the flowers that strengthen and sprout

But this thick air has become too vague to see
Or to breathe or drive through these wounded trees
In which the bark in the dark without a doubt
Grows in arcs and sparks curiosity without
Any idea where to fathom or begin
To search for the missing child buried with

Beyond the cherry oaks and evergreen backwoods
Past the landscapes of emerald trees and creeks of water
On top of a hill surrounded by mud and soil
Lies an innocent flower as delicate and quiet as the wind

I planted this flower from the seedlings in my garden
Carefully cultivating this flower to reflect the beauty of nature
But I soon knew my flower outgrew its surroundings
This particular flower needed ample room to grow

At first the roots resisted, I had to tug to set them free
Scared of the storms and fires that could potentially be
The unknown wilderness is a scary place I must admit
Regardless my garden was not a comfortable

I'm looking out the window
Through the blinds and the shades
Waiting patiently for your return
But you won't be coming home today

Meanwhile these shadows
Continue haunting me
They've tried to snatch my soul
And bury it in the deep

Because the sun has gone down
This room has grown black
But it seems darker than normal
I want the light to come back

In fact this room is so dark
My body is starting to tremble
The shadows are reaching out
My nerves may disassemble

The absence of light
Enhances the echos of sound
I'm finding strength in silence
As I sink into the ground

So instead I close my eyes
Pretending I'm not here

I don't know where I came from
I'm not talking about birth
I'm referring to those times
Before humans walked the earth

What were we before then?
Is there truth to claim?
Was it planned or random chance
I hold my name today?

What kind of power
Created the extremes?
The planets and their moons
And everything inbetween

Why do I come across
The people that I greet?
Is it just by pure luck
Or fate and destiny

Why do old friends exit?
Why do new friends enter?
Our lives are merry-go-rounds
And we're stuck at the center

Why my color eyes?
Why my color skin?
Why the life I lead?
Why these thoughts within?

I know I can do this
I need to put the bottle down
I will clench both my fists
And keep my feet on the ground
I know I can win
I need to conquer this trait
I will try to fight myself
And not drink another day

But its just one more bottle

The trees look so much taller
My imagination runs haywire

Instead my mind conspires
And brings out the worst in me

I tried to cover my darkest parts
With compound words and works of art
But no matter how much I change
My destiny will remain the same

Writing down elusive nightmares
Drawing monsters and evil to share
In the midst of the night during rain and hail
I found a way to release pain and exhale

I found a way so when I'm alone
To the eyes of others I can show
Hoping maybe to receive some compassion
For all the misery and woes that have happened

Isn't that why we paint?; isn't that why we write?
Trying to find solace in the air of the night
While others look on and may be amused
I continue confused; my soul has been bru

There once was a crimson butterfly that landed on my fence
Why my fence of all fences to me made no sense
I had built this fence with such sharp edges nothing could land
But never the less here rests a crimson butterfly unplanned

This creature was beautiful and elusive; what a bright hue
The way it spread it's wings when the wind calmly blew
What an elegant display of perfection; truly a prize
One that would light up a room full of eyes

I wanted to catch this crimson butterfly and keep it in a jar
So it could shine in my house nightly like the stars
And I'd treat it with kindness, love, and affection

I long for hope that burns inside of me
Because there are so many things that I've never seen
So many places that I've never been
So much beauty that has yet to begin

Don't Pick Me!

"Don't Pick Me!"

I remember sitting in the back of class
Whether it was english, history, science, or math
Staring at the clock; waiting to be free
Praying to God the teacher wouldn't pick me

Funny thing is; it's not like I wasn't prepared
I had most of the answers; though the teacher wasn't aware
But when I would raise my hand to answer a question
The teacher ignored me; never looked in my direction

This bugged me to absolutely no end
How could she pretend that I didn't understand
I'd keep my hand raised for what felt like days
But she'd call on a friend to much of my dismay

But what bugged me more; what I couldn't believe
When I didn't have my hand raised is when she'd call on me
As if to mock, embarrass, or make me feel dense
I wanted to pop her tires; this didn't make sense

Why would a teacher do that to a student?
Why waste our time?; class should be fluent
Pick on someone who knows; don't embarrass the rest
Maybe she was having a bad day was my only guess

But it got even worse; what she had in store
Sometimes she'd make me write answers on the board
So the whole class could witness the fail that I am
My face would turn red before it began

So while I was doing homework one night
I decided I was going to get every question right
I did extensive research; found every answer but one
That was good enough for me; at least I found some

But the next day in class was the worst of them all
I felt like a mighty king about to take a fall
She picked me for that one question; like a scared bunny I stood
And gave the stupidest answer that I swear anyone could

This makes me feel so bad. Because i was the smart kid. I was always shy. I never liked giving answers but i most of all hated wrong answers. But with time I learned to just give into my inability to answer some things. I realized it's normal. No one but I myself cared about my answer of course. Yet I've always had such high expectations for me. Nothing was better than an A+. Nothing felt worst than a B. Nothing hurt more than a C. Failing was always the worst thing in the world. But then came a time when i failed a class. I got behind after being sick, I missed classes and lessons. It was in those times that I felt I grew the most. It was when I saw the world for more than just work. It was when I opened my eyes to people. When i grew compassion for my fellow peers. When I finally grew up and realized that I will only live once. That's when my fear subsided.

I ADORE this poem! It is just so relatable - we all have been in this situation
I only gave you 4 stars for originality since this has been done alot before, (even though you still did a beautiful job with your work, of course.)

Impoact is 5 stars because their is no sixth! lol but 5 stars because it just made you fell like... i'm sorrym, theree are no words for how good the impact was!

5 stars for vision because your descriptors made us, the readers, feel like we were there ;

technique was 5 stars because how you presented all of this, and just how you writ this was absolutly perfect!

All in all: a beautifuly written piece of work! You, good sir, have earned youself a watcher because I am in love with your writings!

The same thing happens to me in class, it’s so annoying when you know the answer to a question and they don't pick you but when you don't know the answer the teacher picks you to answer the question.

I hate it when teachers do that. I always try so hard to have them pick me for the ones I do know, so they won't pick me for the ones I don't. But, it just doesn't seem to work enough.

She would say, "Tomomi, please answer number 5 on the board"
'Why me?!!', I always thought. "Y-yes m-ma'am"
...

Then sometimes, "Ynna, would you please answer this: What is the meaning of SOS?"
"Uhhh...." She says.
"Me, me! Pick me!" I would shout with the others.
"The answer is Save One's Soul, ma'am!" My other classmate always gets picked.
"Correct!"
"Arg.~!" I say, always say.
"Next question..."
Then I put my hand down.
"What is the meaning of Axis Powers? Why was it called as it is?" Then she starts to pick. I started sweating. Her eyes started browsing through us students then she will find me!
"Tomomi, answer?"
"I-It's because.... because..." There will always be a long moment of awkwardness. Awkward!!

It was all just too AWFUL!!
