"Crossed The Line"

She told him "no" many instances before
At first he listened, but not this time
Her words were sounds that he ignored
Because finally, he crossed the line

At first it seemed like every date
He was sweet and kind, holding doors
But even still at any rate
She found herself screaming on the bedroom floor

Because he heard, but didn't listen
Only hearing what he wanted to hear
And by pure hormones he was driven
While her pleas fell on deaf's ears

At first it started out innocent
Holding hands, kissing, locking lips
But soon it was no longer ambivalent
Once his hands swayed around her hips

He tried crawling them up her shirt
And that's when she opened her eyes
She hit him where it really hurt
She thought he was different from other guys

She thought he was one she could trust
When she told him she wanted to wait
She was never into games of lust
She was actually looking for a soulmate

She thought that maybe for one case
Someone wasn't after her for sex
That he had looked past her pretty face
And realized she was more than an object

And that's the problem always presented
As if it's a curse to have good looks
In the end she's always resented
People misread her like a confusing book.

But she is one to be respected
Educated, hard-working, and kind
She wants her life to be connected
To one who has her best interest in mind

So she threw him onto the street
Quite content with who she was
For that moment she felt complete
I offer to her my sincerest applause

Still she couldn't help but question
Will someone respect her next time
And give her the kind of attention
One gives without crossing the line?

Another poem I wrote. I guess I should leave a disclaimer on this one. Not all guys and girls are like this. I'm not generalizing, nor is this about anyone in particular. Its just a poem.

It's beautifully written. I feel this touched me in a way few others realize. Because many women do feel like this. We want to be accepted by the community. yet we want to be respected. and many who see a pretty face think we do it for attention. which is why we have so many of us not caring about the community any more. because we lack respect. being a woman of a lesbian life style by choice is all about this. is that few people actually have given me the respect i deserve and know i should get for being a human. not for my face or my camouflageing large cloths. but for simply being able to love and express love. can we not all get respect. a firm line of not expecting a woman to sleep with a man just because she likes to talk to a man. this is one of societies biggest flaws today. i think this poem is both insightful as well as political to today's day and time. good job.

i would love to shake your hand if we ever were to meet so i'll offer it now *extends hand*. you did a good job.

This is amazingly well written. I'm not usually into poetry about relationships and romance but this poem had me gripped as its based on a dark side of a relationship. Unfortunately, I kind of connect with this poem which made it quite real for me and that's what I liked and kept me reading til the end. The rhyming in the poem just flows really beautifully and kept me reading. I love this poem a lot and would love to add it to my Literature group as its quite a serious piece and not a laughing matter. I hope you make more poems :)

This is an amazing piece!
It is well written and many can relate to it!
Life would be so much better if people look to the inside instead of the outside.
Seems like you have it nailed on both counts!
Cannot wait to read more of your poetry and am adding you to my watchlist!!!!

Two things - when girls say that they've 'told' someone the relationship should be based on 'that meaningful stuff, i dunno what you call it, it doesn't actually mean that they've said "I think this relationship should be...." it means that's really what the other person should have known - which is fair enough. Male perspective on this is that 'there's normally a quite constant stream of info' to process', like a lot of stuff can get just filed under hormones, for example. I'm just saying, also, incidentally, there is this thing, to get her to actually change her mind because the kiss is just that, shall we say, well-practiced. The other part...is that it really is difficult to imagine a 'date' as being any more important, or exciting, as doing one's hobby - just to put that in context, hobbies are very personal things, quite often you wouldn't necessarily share them with your friends, and of course, they're those things you like to do. So, yeah, going out and having a good time, is kind of like a hobby, but if you're with a girl, it's just that much more personal - which in this case, makes it probably more like a religion. There's nothing wrong with that, a lot of beliefs reflect 'some of those female-issues', though generally it's Fertility that's worshipped rather than like Psyche. - I don't feel so bad for the girl, being good-looking and having to go through what's on offer- does it not seem, y'know, like her 'test' for compatibility is pretty closely related to how long it takes to find the bedroom floor? Which is French. If you're a guy and you want to be caring and thoughtful, that sort of scenario could be a lot more difficult to execute - literally, you have to fall in love with 'some little thing about her' and then talk up a storm, saying the words out loud, works wonders.
The littlest thing, the sound of her heart-beat
