What kind of father throws his own son
Out into the unknown to wander alone?
A father who if he didn't think his son could make it
Would not have sent him out there to roam
What kind of daughter hides secrets
From the kindness of her mother's care?
The kind who wants to protect her mother
And instead turns to God for prayer
What kind of son walks around
Concealing drugs in his backpack?
A son who doesn't want to see
His father resorting to that
What kind of annoying brother
Gives his sister's boyfriend a hard time?
One who doesn't want to see her hurt
Because love can sometimes blind
What kind of best friend hurts you
Or so it may seem that's the case?
The kind who wishes to be honest
Rather than lie in front of your face
What kind of popular person
Ditches the party of the year?
One who attends a hospital
To comfort someone dear
All I ever wanted was a brother
But what I got was someone I never understood
Until the thoughts were too late to fathom
And he moved into a new neighborhood
Now I've probably lost my chance
Because at that moment in time
I never understood his message
Until I wrote this rhyme
The point to this poem
Is to not let those slip away
Even if they seem uneasy
By the words of what they say
Because some of us are complex
But those with hearts so true
Don't mean to be irritating
Or have a desire to hurt you
Some of us are just afraid
And so we smile wide
Hoping to defer the pain
So you can not see inside
But though you may not see it
Good intentions are masked behind
Secrets motives and life lessons
Where the meanings we have to find
