If truth is found with reason

Then give me reason to believe

That your treason in the seasons

Was the cause for me to bleed

For when this desk meets my fist

I feel the rage build within

Pretending to grab your wrist

And leaving cuts under your skin

Because I worked and slaved like hell

Nailed here like a sinner on his cross

Dying for your sins never well

With a crown of thorns made of moss

My hands run red with nasty scars

From trying to live up to your dreams

And though so close I fell so far

Because you are more disturbed than it seemed

Though I do not believe in a lost cause

Maybe now is the time to

Have I waited too damn long?

These circumstances killed my chances to belong

And as I sing the words to a sorrowful song

It turns out in the end I was wrong

For every up there is a down

All the leaves turn from green to brown

And while those dress up in their gowns and crowns

I've eliminated those who make me frown

I've reflected on this long, dark, hilly year

Pounding down bottle after bottle of beer

The sicker I get the quicker I'll disappear

Letting go of all my thoughts, worries, and fears

In hindsight I've learned more than what I know

At the expense of souls who sadly had to go

And truth behold I have

Where does one wander when there is nowhere left to go?

And the shelter he took in a comforting heart wanders to and fro

I could bleed enough to fill this page just so you could know

But what is the point of pain when my heart has already broke

After a year of love I have returned to this seat

With lament and confusion as my heart skips a beat

Loved and rejected my life turns to shambles

This is what happens for rolling dice on a gamble

For once one drinks from waters so deep

He can never return from honey so sweet

During a brief moment of clarity I take a breath and pause

Perhaps love is an illusion or just a fleetin

There our angels sleeping in our beds

But I can not even hear or feel them

And there's dead lead swimming in my head

Steering into nodes by the tips of their stems

And their wings are tired and they're torn

Like the scorned dread in my eyeball's veins

Worn down by the weather's wicked storms

Followed along with a little more added rain

Lost and restless looking for their tombs

Here they are now rising from their graves

Haunting us with vile when they loom with doom

They only materialize in front of the brave

Looking for the wind in their sail to carry them high

Where only they know where to go on their travels

Let us not pretend that this night

Must end so soon but to spite

Our dances and this moment and the moon

The sun prances so content as it looms

Let us partake in this wine that we shared

And mistake not the fine times that we cared

For the adolescence of minds as teens in a car

Is the essence of youth that binds adults with scars

So go on right ahead and smoke and drink

Before you lungs and liver choke and sink

They'll probably fail anyway as you continue to age

A body isn't immune to anything even glued in a cage

Break those hearts and kick start the cycle

A new love interest will take part twice per mile

Outside on my porch I sat with such delight

Content with believing it was going to be another ordinary night

I reached in my pocket and clenched the shiny, cool metal

A feeling of slick texture caused my heart then to settle

I did not welcome the raindrops on my apparel's damask

Nor was I appreciative of my silver, empty flask

Suddenly brighter than aircraft lights I saw the cars collide

An icon blinding my eyes and stealing my sight

I saw a rugged body abused; struggling for air

But I gazed on and overlooked the body trapped there

The leeches were at his throat as he laid there feeling faint

Oh wonderful night how much I love thee so

Your moonlight overflows the coast with an illustrious glow

Dance all you raindrops on my fragile window panes

Oh vanquish the morning and dear erase my name

Sell yourself to those creatures that wander the night

They are not as demented once you have seen the light

I myself sold my soul such a long time ago

But you would never know unless this poem told you so

I have secrets built up I just can not tell

Locked forever in my heart are where they will dwell

Though there are some to you I may one day share

I doubt many in the end would ever really care

Secrets about the world, philosophy, and stars

Secrets that will ignite flames in the dark

Secrets that will move oceans across lands

Secrets about God and the common man

So sometimes at night I talk to myself

Sharing feelings only I could have felt

Self-reflection helps me to heal

Because only I understand the way that I feel

We all have these secrets; some bigger than others

Some we share with friends and some with our mothers

I'm still pretending that you're mending your heart

The condescending organ that tore me apart

Ripped it to shreds like a shark to its prey

But today I have recovered from those events last May

The quiet gardens where the flowers did bloom

Into orchids and daisies and intoxicating fumes

Still continue to flower and to thrive

Despite the love in our hearts that have died

The butterflies hover in the wind

Pinned against walls they rest on my skin

As I model and watch the leaves here so alone

In my garden isolated in the back of my home

And I still remember exactly where you sat

Relaxed and reclined as your eyelashes

As I grow older the more I see smiles of traitors

Yet I am not lost, but working towards something greater

Though we can not see it, I know prosperous futures are there

Years of suffering must eventually be answered through prayer

As I trek forward, the only direction I can proceed

The hearts around always continue to mislead

No amount of tears can penetrate hearts so cold

Hearts once pure have now sadly been sold

Trying to drag me into pools of misery until I submerge

I must swim back to the surface and my demons purge

I can no longer spend ruined time on beauty so estranged

For this wasted effort will only lead me mo

On the western coast of a sparkling city

With sights to boast that are more than pretty

Are lives dancing wildly in once vacated streets

Underneath fireworks with ashes at their feet

Many lives are lost with all the blood they lose

With every single smoke and every cup of booze

The revolution of the skies are resting on the shores

Unlocking doors leading to more and more wars

In the southern lands composed of sand

Where the arid heat beats down on strips and strands

The hunter shoots the hunted and calls it his game

And leaves a bloody trail of evidence forging their names

I might not be coming home tonight

Though my mind tells myself I feel fine

I guess my body won the battle this time

My heart did feel heavy that particular day

But such a burden to others I never like to say

What is bothering me or the way that I feel

They pry me open like a weapon concealed

But all around me people were screaming

For what I don't know the purpose or meaning

But just then I felt the plastic on my face

And a warm fluid enter my veins

The last thing I remember were simple words

"I'll always love you" by my favorite girl

And those lights that shined brigh

O, how I wish you were here my dear

To lessen the blows of the raging storms

To polish the smears on glass once clear

To blossom the flowers now newly born

Like a lonely blade of grass resting in soil

Fooling yourself into being so callous

Hiding in the shade under masses recoiled

Waiting to be picked by a being with prowess

With your radiant blue eyes and luscious hair

You leave a rosy scent wherever you go

And your adorable glare lights up like flares

From the stars shooting to and fro

If I could caress your face with smile embraced

A sunset background glowing in the distance

The butterfly lost its wings but decided anyway to stay

Though the ants devoured this helpless creature who couldn't fly away

And I watched it all happen in such disgust and fright

I heard two cars crash a couple of blocks down the road

Glass was smashed that remained from a long time ago

Swearing was exchanged and deranged remarks were made

Stark looks were traded and changed into hate

I believe those two knew each other from a past recollection

But tides often turn when one crosses another's direction

How quickly friendships are destroyed over banter an

Where nouns can not name the colors so brown

Where the sun awakens those with the shine of its crown

Today I report a tale to make any man frown

The irritated skies must have felt the frustration

Like the clouds who look down and enforce devastation

Because the oak tree by the wooden barn has been struck

By lighting as it seems to have more than worse luck

Than all of the creatures out in the lands

Who are doing all to the best that they can

And on the branches those little bluebirds

Escaped the fall out by the wrestling herds

Who also ran to flee from disaster

I have walked in the shadows of my former self

Without respect for I or anybody else

And in darkness I was told to stay away from

The temptations of man or reincarnation

As I stare at the world vanishing from my eyes

I wish to evaporate into the brisk sunrise

And be whisked away like the petals from a rose

And be carried to where the wind blows down the road

Is masked by smiles so counterfeit

And no matter how hard one tries

They'll never admit to submit

They can easily lure you in

With promises so sincere

And once you've fallen for their grin

We have all fallen for this act

I finally asked her how many times

That I have gone and written a rhyme

In honor of the love that we bear

And all those rare feelings we care to share

She shoved me playfully to the ground

And laughed such a heartfelt sound

Saying I'm silly for over thinking my words

And acting worse than a pair of lovesick birds

She helped me up and then we walked

So merrily as we sang and talked

The city streets were paved with lights

Unusually bright for such a rainy night

I gave her my jacket to protect from the rain

And she threw it back for she had to explain

A golden well stands erect with its magnificent waters drained

And this well will not be satisfied until next evening's rain

For a well which was once overflowing with happiness to share

Is now gasping for remaining breath in hopeless despair

A thick fog enshrouds the contents of this well beholding

A fool's prize consisting of gold and luxury unfolding

Man's search for power has bled this poor well dry

And even until its last breath did that man deny

Ever considering whether this well had genuine feelings

Or ever acknowledging the contents he was stealing

On the side of the well the pail is merely used to carry

The hardest thing anyone can say

Is admitting when they are afraid

Facing one's self even for the brave

Can be the toughest task on any day

There's a whole wide world waiting to explore

If you could only step beyond your hardwood doors

I admit sometimes that I am scared

Of the uncertainty waiting out there

If you reach down deep and discover the true

Meanings of paranoia it might just scare you

I'm afraid of failure, rejection, denial

I'm scared of walking aimlessly for miles

All my dreams always seem to shatter

It's difficult to conjure new dreams that matter

But everyday that passes us by

At last I have accomplished the impossible

So glad I have relinquished the inevitable

Don't scamper trying to outrun the light

I have blown up the sun and all of its might

I blew it to bits, tiny fragments of stars

Scarring the skies from wherever you are

Tore it to shreds; an explosion so loud

Darkness is the aftermath of what will be found

No more heat to beat down on your fragile necks

No more sweat to wet your beautiful heads

The sun makes me angry, can't you tell by this rhyme?

Agitated and irritated and often very blind

"Abandon Ship"

This ship has made its final sail

Across this lonesome bay

This ship has the lost the will to prevail

Underneath a sky so grey

Such a mighty boat once caught the toughest shark

Who of course would not obey

This creature's teeth have left their mark

In wood which has now decayed

This ship has taken the mightiest blows

Leaving holes in its interior

Gunfire and cannonballs from all his foes

Made this ship feel inferior

The crew has abandoned ship

They've batten down the hatches

This mighty boat is beginning to tip

While the interior detaches

Even the captain walked the plank

Jumping into waters so deep

He landed in the river's bank

Where he will forever lay asleep

This ship's deck now lies in flames

From the battle which has been won

Its history has been put to shame

This ship has been outdone

Fireworks light up the sky by all those who

Have maneuvered themselves to victory

To all those on the defeated ship I bid adieu

They shall rest with their ship in misery
