Happy, stable, and fully intact

These images might make some terribly mad

Family units gathered around their tables

Something as delightful emerging from a fable

Sharing and conversing all they have done

That week in retrospect and all of their fun

Fathers and daughters; mothers and sons

Friends and relatives; all are welcome to come

Boyfriends and girlfriends; husbands and wives

Aunts and uncles; grandparents with fragile lives

Even their pets exhibit joyous remarks

Their clever cats meow while dogs merrily bark

Emotions are poured into feasts fit for kings

The adults converse as children laugh and sing

All the

Evenfall"Evenfall"

I find such beauty in the stars

Because they remind me of who you are

They burn brightly only for you

Because I know there's nothing you can't do

And as they disappear from my blurry view

A part of me has vanished with them too

Normally we can see through any disguise

But our hearts have become paralyzed.

Tangled in the lines that we drew hundred times

Our weak and fragile hearts are things I can not define

My tired eyes can no longer see through the night

But I wish upon the stars that you may find the grace from light

And I know my time will be over soon

But as long as I can breathe I will watch over you

I will make the carrier pigeons fly over seas

And ocean shores to the coastlines

And back but not before they deliver for me

A letter I wrote especially for your eyes to see

They will hand this letter to the blue jays

Which chirp merrily outside your window

And harmonize with the transparent airways

That carry the tone of your melodic voice

You once hummed a tune so captivating

That I left my room but stayed by the door

And listened as I closed my eyes and viewed

Happiness in the form of notes and stanzas

Those blue jays rest on your awning

Every morning as the sun blossoms the earth

With such delicate rays ma

I heard them knocking again

This is such a sin

Why don't they understand?

I am not letting them in

I refuse to convert

My stubbornness is satisfied

So to them I avert

My ears away and hide

God will still forgive me

I have done no such crime

I am just so sleepy

At such an early time

Every Sunday morning

They always come around

In regards to conforming

To bother folks in town

They never leave me alone

They bang and knock and ring

Outside of my home

I swear they even sing!

And then they just stand there

And talk amongst themselves

Like a live mass of prayers

Or a bunch of Christmas elves

I don't wan

If a revolution came to life

And you had to pick a side

Would you choose to say goodbye

Or journey through the night?

Face down buried under wrecks

With a gun pointed at your neck

Would you stand up for what you believe in?

Would you play the victim or the villain?

Can you hold your own under attack

With a piece of metal grazing your back?

Would you say no and maintain pride

Or take a gun and camp and hide?

With no hope; we look up towards the light

We play the fool to try to do what's right

Either that or go behind enemy lines

Masked as a traitor to cover up the shine

Of our hard helmets and badges made of gold

What's the point of praying

Upon those shooting stars

When hopes you are conveying

Are so very far?

How can words you say

Released into open air

Possibly effect your day

When not many really care?

Every star I've wished upon

Has left me to pretend

That every situation

Wasn't crushed in the end

What use is there in denying

To cover what you mean

If it only leads to crying

And fantasies that can't be seen?

What happens when instincts betray

Or are not thought through well?

The words can not be conveyed

The letters are misspelled

If you stand by your own beliefs

You may one day walk alone

Because many can

The sun has made its final fade across the ocean's tides

The beautiful rays which shined so bright will no longer serenade the skies

The tides have ceased their crashing along the rough, rocky shore

The seagulls have made their final flight for no longer will they soar

A gentle wind is blowing swiftly through the night's frigid air

Blowing away innocent leaves who were completely unaware

The flowers though freshly bloomed already start to cry

To which the artist of this painting has still not a reply

A painting drawn so perfectly as if to be divine

How can I love thee more and more each day?

My love has expanded beyond what words can convey

If I had to dream up the perfect girl with a heart so true

She would never begin to come close to you

All the beautiful images and words of affection

Would not come close to your portrayal of perfection

Trying to please you has never been such a task

Because I am already one step ahead before you ask

Because you know if there is anything that you should need

I would gladly provide for you on wounded knee

And I would place myself in danger's risk

In order to provide for you one final kiss

Sometimes I question if my soul can rest

I always have a strange feeling inside my chest

What is a soul and does it really control

The decisions I make to make me feel whole?

My heart and my mind constantly battle

Each other through struggle as they wiggle and rattle

For freedom from a body messed up and decayed

Which one controls which and the decisions I make?

Which makes me hold a lighter to my face

And burn away today's new wasted space?

Does my heart tell my mind to live and make it through

Or does my mind tell my heart to die and begin anew?

Sometimes it feels like my heart weighs a ton

On certain night

When you close your eyes at night can your eyes conceive

A vivid world crammed with imagination and imagery?

Under your covers where you sleep safe and sound

Innocence and beauty can last all year around

Have you seen the underwater kingdom where angler fish glow?

Or the castles in the sky covered in candy and snow?

Before you visit the marketplace where peasants and knights gather

Run past the volcanoes where lava has the ground slathered

Make sure you breathe in though so you know you're alive

I wouldn't want you to miss the land where pirates thrive

They crossed the wretched sea to find gems and treasure

A golden well stands erect with its magnificent waters drained

And this well will not be satisfied until next evening's rain

For a well which was once overflowing with happiness to share

Is now gasping for remaining breath in hopeless despair

A thick fog enshrouds the contents of this well beholding

A fool's prize consisting of gold and luxury unfolding

Man's search for power has bled this poor well dry

And even until its last breath did that man deny

Ever considering whether this well had genuine feelings

Or ever acknowledging the contents he was stealing

On the side of the well the pail is merely used to carry

To my only son do keep your head held high

And please may you treasure these words after I have died

My thoughts have become mysteries lost among the sea

People choose to behave as they please and so I shall let them be

But to you my only son who I shall never truly know

I speak to you through my writings before it is time to go

Your mother in all her beauty will raise you up so strong

And tell you stories about your father after I am gone

To my only son this one favor is all I ask

To preserve my writings forever is not a difficult task

It pains me to know that soon my life will end

With that I act so quickly to heal and ma

The events that took place I was not aware

Could be so tragic for your mind to bear

But with you I now elect to share

In hopes one day you'll send up your prayers

I realized I could not hang on anymore

My hands were numb, my bones were sore

And peering down into a dark abyss

I saw nothing except for gloomy mist

Its as if the Devil himself

Reserved a seat for nobody else

Except my soul to claim as his own

A veracious gesture I can't condone

The bridge above was dead at night

The lonely clouds that hid starlight

Were passing by while I tried and tried

To hang on longer and stay alive

I could not look up nor look dow

She has this switch inside of her head

That signals love; then flickers red

Proceed with caution; handle with care

If she opens her mouth enter if you dare

There is this thing; its called a mind

Sometimes its there; sometimes its fine

But when she smiles you better prepare

To run for miles or tear out your hair

She punches doors; she scratches walls

She crawls along her floors in halls

Then she'll cry or laugh with glee

After destroying everything

In tragic cases where mood dissolves

She'll bury faces with no resolve

And leave no trace; no where to run

She'll hunt you down; she has a gun

She'll drive you nuts for

I Could"I Could"

I could travel as far as I can go

And never arrive to where I want

I could climb as high as the mountain's snow

And never completely reach the top

I could launch myself off a building

And somehow still survive

I could give into these feelings

Or look into your eyes

I could drown myself in a lake

And wash up along a coast

I could be stabbed with a stake

And live to talk and boast

I could drink myself to oblivion

And still never feel bliss

I could make a bold decision

And give you another kiss

I could try to right my wrongs

But some things can't be fixed

I could find where I belong

But your intentions are too mixed

She left him in the pouring rain

For reasons of which she could not explain

She left him to himself again

For reasons of which he could not commend

Left him holding the card of love

Left him staring at the stars above

Left him like an eroded stone

Or a rotten fruit thrown out alone

Standing there he swallowed and could not believe

He invested so much time in someone who teased

All the years spent making her smile

Disfigured parts under glass in shards

Manikins beheaded so meaningless

A train wreck derailed to his appeal

A child left hanging on a tree

A victim's virginity he steals

A bomb undetected in the Marriott Marquee

He can not excuse his unspeakable sins

Nor deliver a verdict to bear

All the dreams that I wished for

Are all the things I want no more

Now I bestow them onto you

As I wither away in my dark fortitude

For you I pray these words will not betray

For you I say have the glorious of days

Fly away with your wings spread wide

Armed with nothing except for your mind

May destiny lead you towards a path of surprise

Allow yourself to drop weightlessly to the unseen ground

Do not fear the fall dear in fact take in the marvelous view

Nothing will ever cause harm as long as you are in my view

"A Letter From The Trenches"

My Darling Dearest:

I miss you so very much
I have been thinking about you a lot lately
I hold your picture by my heart
During these tough times of being apart

The only thing I want more
Is to be with you at this very moment
To hold you and our kids
To feel safe in our own home

You were the last person I remember
Seeing as the ship left the shore
I hope you are the first person
Who comes into view if we return

I've been laying here in the trenches
Becoming more homesick with each day
Wishing for this war to end
So we can carry on our lives together

Lights are always flashing
But our memories help me get by
When I feel so alone
And cornered in a hole

I'm so lost right now
But I remember our promises
And want to continue living
There's so much more to do

Gunfire sounds are making me crazy
I miss your lips on mine
And when everything was normal
In the backyard in our pool

I want to return home to you
To see your smile once again
But things are not looking so good
On that subject at hand

It seems they may station me
Somewhere I really don't want to be
But this is the choice we made, right?
I have to follow through

But in the meantime
I hope you get this letter
And read it over as many times
As I have read yours

War ruins a lot of things for everyone
So I hope you understand
I can not promise you that I will survive
And if I don't, I want you to keep smiling, always
